Faceplant News
After a lot of thinking and a drop in activity on Face Plant I've decided that I'll be closing Face Plant down.

The site will be up until August 21st which will make Face Plant 3 years old.
We won't be accepting new members from now but you can check out everything as I unlock it all for you to check out. Some things were popular, some things it seemed only I used :).

Face Plant has been a huge success, not because it pulled in lots of people but because it pulled in the best people. A lot of members I have become friends with outside of this site and are based across the world, something which I'll remember the site for.

Thanks to everyone who supported us over the years and keep boarding, I know I will.

Also you can always check out my other project at www.urbansnow.co.uk.

The Riders HotelThe Riders’ Hotel is back! The guys from SMK snowboard have teamed up this year with Snowplanet.it to bring you again the one and only Rider Run, Rider Oriented hotel in Les 2 Alpes (France) this upcoming 2008 summer season.

Offering a new location, the The Riders' Hotel is a new and unique international which is entirely run by snowboarders, employs only snowboarders and it is offers a bunch of pretty cool rider oriented services. You'll feel a different atmosphere here: snowboard's in the air.

The riders' hotel is just the place to be at Les 2 Alpes: right in the main street of Les 2 Alpes, it offers up to 40 rooms to lodge more than 80 people at a time and services include: large restaurant with Italian food; projection room for movies; chill-out area with bar and daily DJ sessions; Indoboard room; trampolines with specific Guru Trampboards ; wifi internet, satellite TV; snowboard workshop… and of course, loads of party. Only rule here: respect!

Most importantly , SMK snowboard has again made a big effort to make The riders' hotel the most important meeting point this summer in Les 2 Alpes for international press, teams, pro-riders and camp organizations: Method snowboard magazine, Playboard, Tacky, SCUK, Faceplant, Middlefinger snowboard magazine and much more have already confirmed their stay ; the crew from Demonium Masta Camps, Burton Summer Camps, Salomon Summer Camps, Imperium weeks, Snowplanet camps and SMK international camps; riders such as Tonton Holland or Damien Henzelin and teams such as Nineworth's or Imperium's just to name a few…

Also, new for this year, they also offer low budgets self-catered apartments in the vecinities of the hotel.

SMK Camp 08Five years ago the crew from SMK camps turned a dream into a challenge: to make high quality, affordable snowboard camps a reality. Five years later, they have not ceased to add new elements, but have stayed true to their initial philosophy: snowboard camps for everyone.

Just in case you didn’t know, SMK camps run international snowboard camps (in English and Spanish) for all ages and levels and offer packages including accommodation , ski-pass, 18 hour glacier training program, trampoline training with Guru Trampboards, Indoboard balance training, video analysis, afternoon lessons and much more.

Antonio Sánchez (team Salomon/SMK) leads a team of highly qualified instructors and pro-riders such us Scotty Dave (Team Fanatic), Andreas Mancini (Team Nitro), Nestor Bombin (Team Technine), Carlos “Monkey” (Team Bataleon), Marta Corbi (Team Salomon)… and guest riders such as Tonton Holland (Team Imperium/Volcom) and loads more.

For this summer, SMK camps in Les 2 Alpes (France) and Saas Fee (Switzerland, in collaboration with Demonium Masta Camps) are more affordable than ever since you can be lodged at The Riders’ Hotel or in self catered appartments. New for this year, they offer a Private Coaching option: you will be able to get 2 hours a day private coaching and a fully personalized tracking of your evolution and performance from the SMK camps’ instructor you choose.

We return with another Gnar Jam on the 31st of May so get ready to party…….!

Three years since Gnar Chicken and Tea launched onto the UK scene with female-focused snowboard events, its founder Alexa Hohenberg and her Gnar crew are returning with a highly anticipated event at the Tamworth Snowdome on the 31st of May. The time is right to get everyone together and celebrate not only how far British female snowboarding has come, but also the many friends that made along the way. All levels, ski and snowboard welcome… so please come and ride/party with us.

The Gnar Jam returns on the 31st of May with four great new sponsors: Oakley, Vans, Avalaan and Snowboard Club UK. We are very proud to have these great brands on board. Their support is vital to giving you guys a great night and some great prizes. Like past events you can win great product for categories such as ‘most stylish’, ‘most creative use of slope’, and your usual suspects of ‘best jibbers’, both male and female. We want to push the boat out with this event welcoming the ideas of our sponsors, community and the crews we ride with. Definitely expect something different on the night… that includes music, art, riders from the movie “SnowBalls” and some damn good partying!
